We knew it was coming. We heard the whispers last summer that it was possible. We read about the behind-the-scenes bickering, and the public posturing by NBA player representatives and owners. We saw David Stern hold press conferences where he predicted the worse.
The point was finally driven home this week. Tuesday was supposed to be the start of the NBA season. After a season where the NBA enjoyed its most successful season since the Jordan years – and a full summer to come to a collective bargaining agreement resolution – NBA fans won’t see any November games this year. There’s a very real possibility that fans may not see the best basketball in the world for a very, very long time.
