As the NFL continues to flourish and the NBA gets closer to resolving their current labor dispute, the focus of the American sports landscape should move all of its attention towards the most muddled and corrupt organization in the sports world today: the NCAA.
As major schools continue to abandon their current conferences at an alarming rate for what they think are greener pastures, the common theme is that their governing body, the NCAA, has little to no control of the situation. There’s also the other issues facing the NCAA, like the lawsuits filed against schools we seem to hear about every other week; the ongoing debate as to whether the NCAA should pay student-athletes; or the annual public cry for a playoff system in college football. Isn’t it time for Congress or some larger body to step in? I’m not one for our government focusing on sports when there are much bigger issues in the world, but something has to happen soon.
