Fox Soccer Channel Logo3 e1325878427895 Dribbling Past ESPN?Fox Sports is on the counterattack looking to slip a few more goals past ESPN. Last time I checked, Fox is up 3-0.

The past four months have been extremely busy for the broadcast giant as it looks to set the tone with soccer fans in the U.S. Beginning this past September, the network made the bold move to broadcast an English Premier League game (Chelsea vs. Manchester United) before a Sunday NFL game on local affiliates across the country. Although the game was tape delayed, Fox was making every effort to lure American football fans into the other “football.” In total, Fox will show four EPL games this season, though only one, on Super Bowl Sunday, will be aired live. The other three will be broadcast as-live after first airing on Fox Soccer.

I remember vividly the moment I saw Landon Donovan officially put soccer into the American consciousness.

It was last summer during the 2010 World Cup, and America was tied in a must-win game with Algeria. I skipped out on work, and was at a bar nursing a warm beer and cursing the day I ever started following the sport.

You remember the rest. Donovan scored, America erupted and all of a sudden Americans cared about soccer.
